Sanjiv, Joint Secretary of DPIIT, emphasizes the importance of nurturing startups in various sectors like manufacturing, deeptech, gaming, and esports. He mentions that pavilions at the upcoming Startup Mahakumbh will focus on AI and SaaS, agritech, manufacturing, biotech, pharma, deeptech, climate tech, D2C, consumer-facing platforms, gaming, esports, fintech, incubators, and accelerators.
Sanjiv believes that while fintech and ecommerce are prominent sectors, it’s crucial to support startups in less highlighted areas like manufacturing and deeptech. He notes that although India has manufacturing startups and incubators, their growth has been slow. The Startup Mahakumbh aims to provide a platform for manufacturing companies to launch more incubators and drive innovation in the sector.
He anticipates that the event will offer funding opportunities to manufacturing startups and facilitate mentorship, guidance, and access to resources like labs and facilities. Sanjiv draws inspiration from Silicon Valley giants, highlighting the importance of corporate support for new technologies’ success. He hopes the Startup Mahakumbh will foster collaboration between startups and corporates.
Additionally, DPIIT plans to launch the Bharat Startup Ecosystem Registry, aiming to consolidate the startup ecosystem’s various components and provide valuable insights for startups. This registry will serve as a comprehensive database for startups, investors, and incubators, enabling startups to identify target sectors and states based on policies and benefits.
